Position Overview:
PMCS Group is seeking experienced Senior Project Managers (Levels I & II) to join our team working with the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD). The ideal candidates will have a minimum of 17 years of professional project/construction management experience, with at least 5 years managing large programs valued at over $50 million. These roles involve overseeing large-scale educational, public works, or commercial construction projects, and require strong leadership skills to manage project teams and stakeholders effectively.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- 17 years of full-time, paid professional Project/Construction Management experience.
- 5 years of experience managing large programs with projects valued over $50 million (not cumulative).
- 5 years of experience in educational facility construction, public works, or large commercial projects (may include projects outside of California).
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Construction Management from a recognized college or university OR a bachelor’s degree in another field with the ability to complete the Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential within one year of employment.
- Possession of a valid Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certification Institute (CMCI) may substitute for required education.
- Fully vaccinated from Covid-19 with confirmation.
- Recent successful management of the modernization or construction of educational or large commercial/public agency projects.
- Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, oversee stakeholders, and lead teams effectively to ensure projects are completed as required by contract and specifications.
- Highly qualified in technical knowledge to manage issues through coordination with project teams.
- Ability to mentor, provide constructive feedback, and support team development.
- Deep understanding of Owner processes, policies, and procedures, capable of resolving roadblocks to keep projects moving forward.
- Excellent communication skills to maintain effective relationships with project teams, contractors, and executive staff.
- Strong priority management and ability to solve multiple complex issues simultaneously.
- Proficiency in project management, capable of delegating tasks and stepping in to resolve issues when necessary.
- Long-range planning skills to anticipate potential issues and resolve them with urgency.
- Flexible and able to adapt to a fast-changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Design Build experience.
- Experience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM).
- Experience with Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified projects or the Collaborative for High Performing Schools (CHPS).
- Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes.
- A valid Certificate of Registration as an Architect by the California Architectural Board or Professional Engineer by the California State Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resolve complex construction project-related issues, disputes, and disagreements.
- Develop, assign, and monitor the performance of Project Managers and other team members for assigned construction projects.
- Review construction project schedules and progress, ensuring projects stay on track.
- Evaluate and manage change orders and their impact on the district.
- Assist with bid and contract planning, and assess specifications for project feasibility within the stated timeline.
- Monitor construction project databases for scheduling and cost control reporting.
- Perform fiscal management of multiple projects, including reviewing applications for payment.
- Oversee areas of responsibility including cost control, dispute resolution, contract administration, and quality control.
- Coordinate activities with various District departments such as Environmental Health and Safety, Design and A/E Support, and Asset Management.
- Recommend actions to resolve disputes and manage project progress.
- Develop and recommend internal policies and procedures for project management.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
